If Peter Parker bonds with Venom in Spider-Man 4, he can meet a very powerful ally, just like he did in the comics when he bonded with the symbiote.
Spider-Man 4 has a lot to answer and cover after the chaotic events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, but thanks to Venom’s presence in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Peter Parker can meet a powerful ally in his next big screen adventure. The MCU’s Spider-Man has already gone through a lot in just a couple of appearances, but the events of No Way Home changed his life completely and in the most tragic way. After a botched spell opened the gates to the multiverse, the only solution Peter could find was Doctor Strange casting a spell that would make everyone forget Peter Parker, and this time the spell was successful.
At the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Peter Parker was all alone and starting over from scratch, moving into a very small apartment, making a new Spider-Man costume, and listening to the police’s radio frequency to know where to go fight crime. No Way Home had one more surprise up its sleeve, and its mid-credits scene revealed that, before returning to its universe, Sony’s Venom left a piece of itself in the MCU. If Peter comes across the symbiote in Spider-Man 4, this could make way for him to meet one highly anticipated character who can also be a powerful ally: Fantastic Four’s Reed Richards.
Spider-Man Can Meet Reed Richards Thanks To Venom
Peter Parker’s first encounter with the Venom symbiote in the comics happened in Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars #8 in 1984, and some time later, in The Amazing Spider-Man, Spider-Man’s black suit was established as an alien symbiote. In this storyline, the symbiote would wrap around Peter while he slept and set out to fight crime, leaving Peter completely exhausted in the morning. Peter had his suit examined by Fantastic Four’s Reed Richards, and it was he who discovered that it was alive, and when the symbiote tried to permanently bond to Peter’s body, he rejected it and it was contained by the Fantastic Four.
Now, the aforementioned mid-credits scene of Spider-Man: No Way Home linked to that of Venom: Let There Be Carnage and showed Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock and Venom in the MCU, at a bar, trying to understand the universe they had been transported to. When Eddie and Venom were taken back to their universe, the symbiote left a piece of itself in the MCU, thus making it possible for Peter Parker to come across it in Spider-Man 4. With the Fantastic Four finally joining the MCU in Phase 6, and Spider-Man 4 possibly arriving in Phase 6 as well, having Peter meet Reed Richards to ask for help with the symbiote can help integrate the Fantastic Four into the MCU, while also giving Peter a new alliance and friendship with a superhero now that no one remembers him.
The MCU Could Make Reed Richards Spider-Man’s New Mentor
Although Spider-Man has become one of the most popular characters in the MCU, he has been held back a lot, mostly because he has always been attached to a mentor figure. First, Peter became Tony Stark’s mentee, with the late Iron Man even providing him with a high-tech suit and a variety of gadgets. Following Iron Man’s death, Peter briefly had a new mentor figure in Quentin Beck/Mysterio, but he turned out to be a villain (and a very smart and dangerous one). In Spider-Man: No Way Home, Doctor Strange took the role of Peter’s mentor, and following the final spell at the end of the movie, Peter is now completely alone.
Featuring Reed Richards in Spider-Man 4 can turn him into Spider-Man’s new mentor, which would be interesting as he’s a man of science, but it’s time for Spider-Man to finally break free from mentor figures and build his own path in the MCU. Reed Richards can be an ally of Spider-Man without being his mentor, which would be a big relief for the web-slinger now that he has no friends and his colleagues don’t remember him either.
Will Venom Really Bond With Peter Parker In Spider-Man 4?
Of course, for Reed Richards and Spider-Man to meet and join forces like in the comics, Peter would have to bond with Venom in Spider-Man 4. Plot details of Spider-Man 4 are a mystery, so it’s unknown who will be the villain this time, more so as Spider-Man 4 has a couple of villain mysteries to solve, but even if Venom is one of them, that’s no guarantee of Peter bonding with it. Venom can bond with other MCU characters as well, such as Mac Gargan, Flash Thompson, and even Ned Leeds, serving as an antagonist through them. Peter bonding with Venom in Spider-Man 4 would be interesting and fun to watch and can give Reed Richards and the Fantastic Four a place in the story, but it can also risk continuing Spider-Man’s worst trend by making Reed Richards his new mentor.
