These breathtaking pictures depict a wildebeest defending itself from two lionesses who were trying to eat the big animal. Hannes Joubert, a tour guide, captured the incredible encounter inside Kruger National Park on camera. Tourists came to see the drama unfold, but they weren’t at all ready for how it would turn out.
Mr. Joubert of Polkwane, Sᴏᴜᴛʜ Aғʀɪᴄᴀ claims that they came across this attempted ᴍᴜʀᴅᴇʀ on a long weekend visit to the park around 24 km north of Satara Rest Camp on their route to Olifants Camp. Naturally, instead of going back later that day to see what remained of the carcass, they decided to remain where they were when they observed these two female lionesses ʜᴜɴᴛing this wildebeest.
They stood in astonishment as they witnessed this amazing experience unfold in front of them. After an hour of waiting, the wildebeest took a dust bath, at which point anarchy erupted and the females began racing after him. The wildebeest successfully reacted by using one of its horns to grab a lioness’ leg.
The wildebeest had been latched onto her for some time, and the lion had to be in excruciating discomfort. Mr. Joubert said that it was quite unusual to witness a wildebeest retreat after being ᴀᴛᴛᴀᴄᴋed by two lionesses.
