The UFC is infamous for its intense fights and the occasional gruesome injuries that can result. These injuries can have a profound impact on both the fighters and the fans who witness them. Over the past few years, three of the most notable injuries in the UFC have been sustained by Conor McGregor, Anderson Silva, and Chris Weidman.
All three of them suffered leg breaks while fighting in the UFC octagon. However, the three of them had very different reactions to their injuries. With Weidman’s recent remarks about his injury, fans started comparing the three fighters and their reaction to the injury.
Fans praising Conor McGregor for his injury response
In a recent interview, Chris Weidman spoke about the pain he experienced during and after his injury. He described the pain as the worst thing he could ever imagine and begged for pain medication to be knocked out. He also stated that this kind of pain is not meant for human beings to deal with.
After hearing it from Weidman, fans had nothing but praise for Conor McGregor. This was because of the fact that McGregor did a full fledged post fight interview after his leg break. Silva and Weidman could be heard screaming after their injury. McGregor, on the other hand, was in a rage and talked without a tear in his eye. Here is how fans reacted –
One said – “Even if it was not as bad it really is insane how conor no sold the injury”
Another said – “Because there was no check”
One said – “Conors not a fake character like Colby”
Another commented – “Conor’s rage helped him cope with the pain”
Another said – “Conor injury wasn’t as bad but yeah Conor was tough”
One commented – “Bro his leg snapped in half and he stepped on it hard and Poirier proceeded to land bombs on him after. McGregor’s injury was horrific.”
One said – “Conor truly has that competitor in him that only champions have. His leg snapped and he already was planning his post fight speech to plan his redemption. How he handled that pain is mind fucking blowing. I appreciate the athlete in him.”
More about the three leg breaks
In 2013, Anderson Silva was fighting Chris Weidman when he suffered a horrific leg injury. He threw a leg kick that Weidman checked, causing Silva‘s leg to break in a gruesome fashion. The injury was so severe that Silva had to be carried out of the Octagon on a stretcher.
Fast forward to 2016, and Chris Weidman found himself in a similar situation. He was fighting Uriah Hill when he threw a leg kick that was checked. It caused his leg to break in a similar fashion to Silva‘s injury. Weidman also had to be carried out of the Octagon on a stretcher.
Most recently, in 2021, Conor McGregor suffered a similar injury during his fight against Dustin Poirier. McGregor threw a leg kick that was checked. This caused his leg to break in a way that was eerily similar to Weidman and Silva‘s injuries. Which one do you think was the most brutal one? Comment down below.
