Emily Ratajkowski is trying to use her fame to make a positive change.
The 31-year-old star spoke to the Elle’s April 2023 first-ever Impact Issue this week where she shared some of her viewpoints.
The issue was celebrating women who are making their mark on the world right now.
During the conversation, Emily – who said this week she wants a second child – mentioned two blonde superstars whom she feels have been treated unfairly.
One of them is Taylor Swift and the other is Pamela Anderson.
In the issue she revealed that she has become a Swift fan while adding that she would like to get Anderson as a guest on her podcast.
As far as Taylor, she said she was happy to call out a TikTok of a sexist Swift interview.
‘I recently became a Swiftie,’ began the Vogue model.
‘I loved her last album and I’ve seen her documentary, but I wasn’t following her career in the same way the last 10-plus years,’ she added.
When she saw the video, Emily was ‘so struck by how clear she’s being about what is making her uncomfortable.’
Ratajkowski added, ‘I think the lens that I would’ve viewed that interview from 10 years ago versus now has evolved so much, which is why it struck me. I was in bed falling asleep and commented on it, not because I thought it was going to make headlines at all.
‘She’s another example of a woman who has been faced with such blatant misogyny and sexism, and yet we don’t want to admit that, because she’s powerful and successful, and also she’s white.’
Emily added Taylor was communicating very clearly about why she didn’t feel comfortable with what was happening.
‘And it was making everyone laugh. It actually upset me,’ she noted. ‘And I think that just even that speaks to a larger thing I’ve noticed, where people don’t listen to femme-presenting people.’
She then transitioned to her dream podcast guest.
It is Baywatch star Pamela Anderson who has recently come out with her memoir.
‘The way that women have treated her is almost as shocking as the way men have treated her,’ she said of the Playboy model.
‘And I’m just so curious where she is now with her perspective. I hope that she gets to have the opportunity to have control over her narrative,’ said Emily.
Next she wants to try screenwriting. ‘To build out the media company that I founded around the podcast. I definitely would like to write future books.
‘To try my hand at fiction, even if it’s thinly veiled, simply because I feel like the way that I exposed myself in My Body, I don’t know that I would ever want to do that again.’
For ELLE’s April 2023 first-ever Impact Issue, they are celebrating women who are making their mark on the world right now.
Included are first daughter Ashley Biden, actress, singer, and budding mogul Keke Palmer, Ukrainian First Lady Olena Zelenska, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, or climate activist Xiye Bastida.
For the Women of Impact portfolio, ELLE’s honorees tell their stories in interviews about the career moments that amaze them, what they wish they knew starting out, and their advice for the next generation of women following in their footsteps.
