Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs won the Super Bowl in what was supposed to be a rebuilding year for the team. The Chiefs were able to stay afloat after the departure of Tyreek Hill, but they have now lost JuJu Smith-Schuster as well.
Mecole Hardman is also anticipated to leave the team in free agency, and the Chiefs are expected to bring in at least one new receiver to aid Patrick Mahomes.
The Chiefs have been continuously linked with a move for DeAndre Hopkins, and Nick Wright also believes that the franchise could make a move for the superstar receiver. Here’s what he said on the What’s Wright? With Nick Wright show:
“The Chiefs got JuJu Smith Schuster, for one year $3.8 million, he ended up making like $8 million because he reached all of his incentives and they won the Super Bowl and all that stuff.”
He added:
“Now the wide receiver situation let’s talk about, so, Marquez Valdes-Scantling is still under contract, he’s a fine number three. They spent a second round pick on Skyy Moore, Kadarius Toney is their number one when he’s healthy, which has been his big bugaboo, he’s excellent, really excellent.”
He also noted:
“I know they are considering Odell but I think there’s a chance they trade for DeAndre Hopkins, he’s available, he is yet to be traded for, I don’t think they are going to go into the season with this being the wide receiver core.”
There is no denying that the Kansas City Chiefs would welcome the addition of a player like Odell Beckham Jr. or DeAndre Hopkins as they would further elevate their offense. Patrick Mahomes would also love to work with a veteran receiver next season.
However, the main problem regarding Hopkins will be the asking price that the Cardinals are seeking. Brett Veach, the team’s general manager, has often made the right moves, and he is expected to do the same this offseason.

If the Chiefs are able to land DeAndre Hopkins to assist Patrick Mahomes, things could get scary for the entire NFL. Hopkins is an exceptional catcher who will immediately fit into their offense, while Skyy Moore, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, and Kadarius Toney will contribute with their speed.
Hopkins’ acquisition will also help Travis Kelce, as he will draw less attention from opposing defenses, allowing Patrick Mahomes to dominate more.
Last season, Hopkins had 64 catches for 717 yards and scored three touchdowns in nine games. In the season prior, he had 42 catches for 572 yards and scored eight touchdowns in 10 games.
