Rashford is unwilling to sign a new deal until Man United takeover is clear
Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe are the leading contenders to buy Man United
Rashford is currently having a fine campaign, having netted 27 goals in 44 games in all competitions.
According to The Sun, United are expected to enforce a wage cap on £200,000 per week for new deals.
The report adds, though, that the 27-year-old is keen to wait until after the potential takeover from Qatar’s Sheikh Jassim or Ineos owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe goes through.
Both are frontrunners to buy the club having been granted an extended deadline of 9pm on Friday, but neither will pay over the odds for the Old Trafford side.
Jassim and Ratcliffe, the latter who is the richest man in Britain, have both insisted they are prepared to spend big with the aim to get the club back where it belongs.
Rashford, therefore, is keen to hold off from signing a new contract for the time being, suggesting he is eyeing a deal greater than the proposed £200,000 salary cap.

Marcus Rashford jets to New York for some well-deserved downtime after injᴜry forced him out of England duty
Marcus Rashford made the most of his time away from the England camp this week by jetting to New York for some richly-deserved downtime, as the Three Lions prepare to take on Italy in their first Euro 2024 qualifier on Thursday night.
The in-form Manchester United forward, who has netted 18 goals in 25 matches across all competitions since the World Cup, pulled out of Gareth Southgate’s squad through injᴜry on Monday after picking up a knock during his team’s 3-1 win over Fulham in last weekend’s FA Cup quarter-final.
Neither United nor the FA confirmed specifics of the injᴜry or the severity of it – but sources insist the problem is genuine and serious enough to prevent his selection.
Rashford took to social media on Thursday to share a picture of him relaxing in New York, sporting sunglasses, a snood and a white bag worth approximately £2,700.
Captioning the photograph ‘Downtime’, the England international performed the ‘Peace’ sign as he gestured to fans in his first Instagram post since dropping out of the Three Lions squad.
