If you have cats at home, you often find them playing with boxes or sleeping peacefully inside a big box. However, do the big cats also share similar feelings? The conservationists at the Big Cat Rescue in Tampa, Florida, recently decided to find the answer.
They start their experiment with Joseph, a male adult Lion. They place a big empty cardboard box in front of Joseph in the open land to see what he would do with it. First, the Lion pushes the box with his nose in all directions. Then, he tries to flatten the sides of the box and finally turns it into a flat surface to sit on.
Next came Jumanji, a black puma. He gets excited with the box and jumps inside it. He plays with the box in his own way and finally decides to bite on all sides. Ultimately, Jumanji successfully tears apart the sides and sits peacefully inside the box.
The conservationists at the rescue center also involve other big cats to see their reaction toward large boxes. Next on the list is Raindance, a Bobcat. He prefers to explore the sides of his cardboard box before getting cozy inside it.
There were also two Tigers, Andre, and Arthur, who were given a single massive box. While one of the two Tigers plays with the box, the other prefers to stand and observe. Then, after a while, both decide to sit and tear the sides of the box, bit by bit.
Rusty, the Caracal, was next. Unlike other big cats, Rusty prefers to peacefully sit inside his cardboard box and lick his feet. Next, a Serval, named Purrsonality, is also given a box. This big cat plays hide-and-seek for a while using his box and finally decides to stand inside the box.
Jaguars, Pumas, Florida Panthers, and many big cats are used for experimentation. However, they find that all types of big cats play with big boxes in their own way. Some like to tear it apart, while some want to sleep inside.
