A little crocodile was spotted in a Sᴏᴜᴛʜ Aғʀɪᴄᴀn wildlife reserve relaxing on the back of what appeared to be a rock ᴄʟᴏsᴇ to a watering hole. The ‘rock’ suddenly moved, pulling the crocodile out of the water, and it became clearly obvious that the ‘rock’ was actually a hippo.
Because the back of the gigantic hippo could only be seen from above the water, the baby crocodile mistakenly believed it to be a rock as it jumped into the river to cool down. Photographer James Armstrong, 39, captured this humorous scenario while visiting Klaserie Private Game Reserve with companions on an annual safari.
James reported that after initially ᴍɪssɪɴɢ it, he soon noticed the crocodile perched on the back of one of the hippos. The waterhole where they were watching for wildlife, according to him, was one of the few sources of water for kilometers in the area due to the drought. They were within ten meters from the hippos.
He started taking pictures as soon as he saw the contact between the crocodile and the hippo, completely by mistake. That meeting was not at all common, based on the remarks he had seen on the pictures. In reality, it’s really uncommon.
The hippo became aware of them and began thrashing around and made a small grunting noise as the young crocodile fell into the water. But it was clear that the crocodile didn’t care since the hippo simply climbed back up onto its back without so much as batting an eye.
Mr. James claimed that looking at his photos had made him thrilled. He realized he had soᴍᴇᴛʜing incredibly special after looking over his images because it was such an unusual experience.
