An expectant mother who looked like she was pregnant with twins revealed the insulting comments she received about her ‘huge’ baby bump before she gave birth to her son. Eliana Rodriguez, 29, from Las Vegas, Nevada, welcomed her second child, a baby boy named Sebastian, via an ᴇᴍᴇʀɢᴇɴᴄʏ C-sᴇᴄᴛɪᴏɴ at Centennial Hills Hospital Medical Center on June 11.
A week before his arrival, she showed off her bare stomach on Instagram while sharing some of the things strangers have said about the size of her bump.
According to Rodriguez, her pregnant stomach also seemed larger because she carried a lot of ᴀᴍɴɪᴏᴛɪᴄ ғʟᴜɪᴅ during her pregnancy, the liquid inside the amniotic sac that protects the fetus while also providing nutrients. An excess of ᴀᴍɴɪᴏᴛɪᴄ ғʟᴜɪᴅ can result in “polyhydramnios” – which occurs in one to two percent of pregnancies, according to the Mayo Clinic. However, Rogriguez said her doctors checked “the number of ғʟᴜɪᴅs and checked the baby’s size” and determined that she was in the clear from polyhydramnios.
It’s no secret that pregnancy is different for everyone, and baby bumps come in all different shapes and sizes. While Rodriguez understands why people would be curious about her baby bump, she maintained that she “was never rude back” to the trolls.
“I’m aware that some people lack compassion for others I am a woman of faith and … I feel so bad for people saying hateful comments.” she said
There were some people who bluntly stated she was ‘huge’ and ‘must be in ᴘᴀɪɴ.’ Others were convinced that she was carrying multiple children. You look like you’re having twins,’ one person commented.
‘Have you checked if there’s another baƅy in there?’ someone else asked.
‘I was that big with all of my kids, stuck straight out and had all of these comments,’ someone else added.
Some Instagram users predicted her son was going to weigh 10 pounds or more, but he was just 8 pounds, 3 ounces, and 20.5 inches in length when he was born.
The bverbge newborn weighs around 8 pounds, according to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. In a more recent post, the mother of two shared a throwback video of herself lifting her pregnant belly, saying her husband weighed 10 pounds when he was born.
