Britney Budhi, 29, from Bondi in the affluent eastern suburbs of Sydney, claimed she received negative feedback on TikTok for referring to her daughter Teyana as a “little monkey.”

The mother, who is of Iɴᴅᴏɴᴇsɪᴀn and Italian descent, and her partner, who is of Burmese and Pᴀᴋɪsᴛᴀɴi descent, both acknowledged that they were aware of the negative implications of naming someone after a monkey.

However, she claims that there was absolutely no negativity in this situation; rather, the term was one of adoration and affection for her now five-month-old daughter.

Teyana was delivered by C-section at 37 weeks and weighed only 2.2 kilograms. Her mother stated that because Nᴇᴡʙᴏʀɴꜱ are so little, hair frequently covers their body in an effort to “keep them warm.”

Before her parents could bring her home, she spent the first two weeks of her life in the NICU where she quickly grew and put on weight. Additionally, her “little monkey” moniker combined with her hairy coat produced an online craze that lasted for almost two months. She still had it on her shoulders and other parts, but it started to fall out as she gained weight. Now she has incredibly attractive leg hair.

Despite the negative comments, some even jokingly telling the mum to shave her ʙᴀʙʏ, Britney said she got a lot of positive reactions too.

Britney claimed that she also received a lot of encouraging responses in addition to the critical remarks, some of which joked that the mother should shave her child.

People who have suffered from anorexia and other severe eating disorders and “developed the same thing” have also gotten in touch with her. When you need to gain weight, your body will attempt to keep you warm as a form of defence. When Britney saw that her ʙᴀʙʏ had so much hair at birth, she wasn’t too astonished. After discovering another hairy kid on TikTok while expecting, she had come to the realization that it was conceivable.

Britney has 11,000 followers on TikTok, where she posts videos of her daily activities. The mother also makes light of her daughter, calling her “all the names under the sun,” and calling her a “little parasite.” These adorable names come from a place of love; there is no negativity in them.
