With Ant-Man 3 sinking fast only a month from its release, the MCU has faced a conundrum that it had almost forgotten could happen to anyone in the movie business – the concept of a box-office flop. With recent Phase Four films like Thor: Love and Thunder and Black Widow, the reception although mediocre did not hurt the franchise in the broader picture since both delved into a promising saga interlaced with a character backstory, a traumatized anti-hero, their bildungsroman tied up with a satisfying closure. Ant-Man 3 foregoes all of that by starting in medias res and ending in medias res.

Marvel Studios Goes to War Against Reddit and Google Docs
Marvel Studios has recently filed a request to the California federal district court to issue a subpoena. Usually, goliaths don’t cry and stomp at every minute inconvenience that haunts the world of media and entertainment every other day. But this time, the MCU could not let go of the transgression.
Reports claim a Reddit user posted Ant-Man 3‘s script which was “intended for use in subtitles,” (according to TorrentFreak) to the r/MarvelStudiosSpoilers subreddit. The filed report claimed that the leaked script was 63 pages long and was disclosed “on or about” 20th January 2023.

Marvel has also requested that the subpoena issued needs to compel Reddit to reveal “all Identifying Information for the user ‘u/MSSmods’” and “any other user(s) responsible for posting, editing, and/or maintaining the content,” on the specified subreddit(s) over the course of a month from January 15th to February 15th.
Why Did Ant-Man 3 Fail So Spectacularly Despite the Hype?
Bluntly put, Ant-Man 3 was underwhelming. At times, sitting in the audience and staring at the unfolding events felt foolish. Why are all these creatures scurrying around everywhere, finding a new threat to run from every 2 minutes while laser beams hit the ground near their scampering feet? Why is there so much commotion but in a truly unorganized and disharmonious way? Even more painfully obnoxious was the idea of technocratically evolved ants running down Kang and an under-exploited Bill Murray filling in for a 3-minute-long secondary subplot without any buildup or an end.

The result of an overly packed plot and the yet under-developed film was the eventual box-office flop faced by the Marvel Phase Five kickstarter. The one job that Ant-Man can do significantly better than the rest of the Avengers is be good at bringing family to the front and center of its narrative. But Ant-Man 3 abandons that formula for a grandiose blockbuster feel.
Peyton Reed messes up by merging what Ant-Man characteristically stands for, what Phase Five demands with its larger-than-life villainous Kang, and the entirely chaotic Quantum Realm that the filmmaker tried to capture in all its haphazard glory with creatures big and small running amok rather than focusing on one contained aspect of it.
