Moon Knight and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse star Oscar Isaac believes that in a fight between his two Marvel characters, the Fist of Khonshu would reign supreme.
During an interview with Empire Magazine, Isaac was asked who he thinks would win in a fight between Marc Spector/Moon Knight and Miguel O’Hara/Spider-Man 2099. “It’s interesting — they have some similarities, actually,” he replied. “But the unpredictability of Moon Knight, the fact that he’s the man of a million faces… Yeah, I’ve got to go with Moon Knight on this one.”
Isaac was also asked if he tested his performance as Miguel on his kids the same way he did with Moon Knight. “Not really,” the actor confessed, “but I did show them the first teaser [for Across The Spider-Verse], and I don’t think I’ve ever been so proud to show my kids something I’ve been in. But of course they were like, ‘What? Why are you fighting Miles?!’ It’s nice to share the excitement with them. It’s definitely more fun showing them this than showing them Scenes from a Marriage.”
Oscar Isaac Has Conquered the Marvel Multiverse
Isaac starred as Marc Spector (and his various alters) in the Marvel Studios limited series Moon Knight, which ran on Disney+ for six episodes from March 2022 to May 2022 as part of Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He also made a post-credit cameo as the voice of Miguel O’Hara, the Spider-Man of the year 2099, in Sony’s 2018 Oscar-winning animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Isaac is set to reprise his role as Miguel for the upcoming sequel, Across the Spider-Verse, in which Spider-Man of Tomorrow will play a significantly larger role in the story.
Isaac’s first time playing a Marvel Comics character actually came in 20th Century Fox’s 2016 film X-Men: Apocalypse, in which he starred as the eponymous mutant villain. Coincidentally, Apocalypse, like Moon Knight, has deep ties to Ancient Egypt. However, while Spider-Man 2099 will play a major role in Across the Spider-Verse and Moon Knight is all but confirmed for future MCU appearances, it seems highly unlikely that Isaac will ever play Apocalypse again. “Apocalypse, that was excruciating,” the actor said in a 2018 interview with GQ. “I didn’t know when I said ‘yes’ that that was what was going to be happening — that I was going to be encased in glue, latex and a 40-pound suit.”
Marvel Studios’ Moon Knight is currently streaming on Disney+. Sony Pictures Animation’s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse opens in theaters on June 2.
