Kim Kardashian and Kanye West divided multiple properties in the divorce settlement they reached on Monday, with West notably agreeing to transfer Kardashian the title of a $4.5 million he purchased next door to her Southern California home after their split last year.
Kardashian, 42, will now be the owner of the five-bedroom home, which spans 3,650 square feet. She is expected to tear down the home — which West said he bought to be closer to his kids — as it is in need of multiple renovations, TMZ reported. In addition to the home next door, Kim will retain rights to the $60 million estate in Hidden Hills, California (pictured) she lives in with the kids, as well as property in Idaho.
In the pact, West will retain ownership of a $60 million Malibu beach home; a pair of ranches he owns in Wyoming; 300 acres in Calabasas, California; a home in Belgium; and the Chicago home he grew up in. The former celeb pair have finally settled their divorce after an ugly public battle that raged on for almost two years since they split. In addition to the division of their multimillion dollar real estate portfolio, the pair have now come to an accord on the custody of their four kids and parenting plans. Kardashian will be getting $200,000 in child support monthly, TMZ reported on Tuesday after reviewing court docs. West and Kardashian will share joint custody and have ‘equal access’ to their four kids North, nine, Saint, six, Chicago, four, and Psalm, three. Insiders told TMZ that Kardashian will have custody of the children most of the time. Under terms of the agreement, West will be responsible for 50 percent of the educational and security expenses for the four kids.
West and Kardashian agreed to attend mediation should they have a parenting disagreement, according to the outlet. Should one not attend the session, the attending parent will get to make the decision on the topic at hand. The $200,000 monthly payment must be wired into Kim’s account on the first day of every month. Both West and Kardashian waived receiving spousal support per the agreements of the prenuptial agreement they signed prior to their marriage, the outlet reported. Sources told the outlet that Kardashian has tried in vain to reach an overall divorce agreement with West over the part year, but he continually refused ‘to participate in resolving’ the matter. ‘Kim’s patience was tested, but she handled things calmly and ultimately Kanye came around,’ the source told the outlet. According to the outlet, Kardashian’s lawyer Laura Wasser was key in mediating between the parties to nail down an agreement between the exes. Had they not settled, West would have had to give a deposition in the case and a trial would have commenced next month. The settlement comes less than two months after a report that indicated West was preparing to agree to it.
The Blast reported October 18 that Kanye’s lawyer has filed a ‘declaration of disclosure,’ a sign that their case was on the verge of coming to a close. According to the documents, Kanye has turned over all of his financial information to his estranged wife’s legal team, and has also reached an agreement with her on how to divide their finances and property. The new developments comes amid Kanye’s latest worrying behavior which has reportedly led Kim to distance herself from him, with the pair only communicating via assistants. In terms of their divorce, the publication writes that: ‘Typically, in cases of this kind, the disclosure is filed within days or weeks of the final judgment and settlement being filed.’ Pictured: The Malibu beach house Kanye bought for over $57 million in 2021.
However, as noted by the outlet, separating couples are capable of settling everything regarding their divorce except for custody of their children, which Kanye may continue fighting over. Kim married Kanye in Florence, Italy in 2014, and welcomed four children with him. She ultimately filed to end the marriage in February 2021. During their highly-publicized legal battle, Kanye attempted to oppose Kim’s efforts to be declared legally single — however a judge granted her request in March 2022. Kanye also went through numerous lawyers during the separation, and recently hired his sixth attorney — the same lawyer who represented Melinda Gates in her $130 billion divorce from ex-husband Bill Gates, Robert Stephan Cohen.
As Cohen is in New York and Kanye’s legal separation being waged in Los Angeles, the rapper has also retained Beverly Hills based attorney Nicholas A Salick of Salick Family Law Group, APLC as counsel in California, reports TMZ. Things appear to have gotten even frostier between the exes in recent months amid Kanye’s latest controversies which include his White Lives Matter T-shirt and repeated anti-Semitic remarks. According to Page Six, Kanye’s concerning behavior has led to Kim distancing herself from him and relying on assistants to communicate with him.
‘They have had zero communication in several weeks, and all communication regarding the kids’ schedules are now coordinated through assistants,’ an insider told the publication. Sources have told the site that Kim has been left disgusted by Kanye’s latest troubling behavior, which include his Tucker Carlson interview (pictured), WLM shirts, and anti-Semitic remarks. TMZ reported that Kim ‘isn’t answering Kanye’s calls’ after he ignited controversy across the world last week by donning a black sweatshirt with the WLM slogan written across it, which was a response to the Black Lives Matter movement that was founded in 2013 following the fatal shooting of Trayvon Martin by George Zimmerman.
The publication claimed Kim hasn’t spoken ‘directly’ to Kanye in weeks and is focusing on their four young children, but in the past the star and her family were on hand to help the rapper until his mental health improved. Sources close to Kanye say they ‘wish Kim was still in the picture to step in’ and are concerned Kanye could lose a ‘lot of money’ during this turbulent period in his life. The professional fallout to West’s repeated statements about anti-Semitism included Adidas cutting their ties with him on October 25 over his conduct. Foot Locker and Gap also pledged to remove Yeezy from its shelves, while fashion mainstays including Vogue magazine publicly distanced themselves from the rapper/fashion designer. The talent agency CAA dropped West from its roster, while a documentary about West made by the studio MRC has been shelved.
Last month, Kanye wore his controversial White Lives Matter shirt to his nine-year-old daughter North’s basketball game (pictured), with eyewitness telling TMZ Kim did not speak to or look at her ex, and had her car moved in the parking lot to avoid contact with him. Kim has reportedly paid for increased security at her children’s private school after Kanye named the establishment on social media.
According to TMZ, the school has recently hired extra security as a precaution — with Kim footing the bill. A source said that officials at the school do not believe Kanye is a threat but are concerned that someone could see his messages and show up on campus. Their divorce was filed last year in February 2021, and the performer stated that currently, the TV personality, ‘basically 80 percent of the time, raise[s] those children.’
