Cristiano Ronaldo boots bottles over and throws captain’s armband as opposition fans chant Lionel Messi’s name after Al Nassr defeat

Cristiano Ronaldo lost his cool and lashed out after Al Nassr lost a pivotal Saudi Pro League match.

Al Nassr were drawing against Al Ittihad before Romarinho scored ten minutes from time to down Ronaldo’s side.

It meant that the Jeddah outfit were knocked off the top spot by their opponents and Ronaldo was less than happy.

Al Ittihad are one of Al Nassr’s biggest rivals and they rubbed salt in the wounds by tweeting a clip of Ronaldo getting tackled, captioning the post: “Where is Ronaldo?”

After full-time, the frustration got the better of the former Manchester United star, who ripped off his captain’s armband as he trudged towards the tunnel.

Despite his team-mates trying to console them, the 38-year-old shrugged them off and booted a bunch of water bottles and sulked as he went down the tunnel.

It was not a great performance from the five-time Ballon d’Or winner, who managed just one shot on target throughout the entire contest.

And when Romarinho scored for former Tottenham boss Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, Al Nassr had no reply, relinquishing top spot to their rivals as a result.

Ronaldo did turn to applaud the away fans while chants of ‘Lionel Messi’ could be heard ringing around the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium.

The Portugal international was seen shaking his head in anger before kicking five water bottles on his way off the pitch, digging up a mound of turf in the process.

This is the second defeat of Al Nassr’s league campaign while Ronaldo has now failed to score in his last two games.

The veteran forward had been in fine form, scoring eight in five matches, but this result leaves question marks over the Saudi side’s title challenge.

Al Nassr are hunting down their first Saudi Pro League title in four years.

But they can make amends in the King Cup of Champions when they face Abha on Tuesday before taking on the same opponent in the league five days later.
