Keanu Reeves has shared the touching reason that he can’t bring himself to walk away from John Wick.
John Wick: Chapter 4 will be released in cinemas on March 24 and, following its premiere in London, has received rave reviews. Keanu Reeves has spoken of the reason why he still signs up to play the character, and why he connects with him so much.
The film will follow John Wick as he takes on a new villain, with the synopsis reading: “John Wick uncovers a path to defeating the High Table, but before he can earn his freedom, Wick must face off against a new enemy with powerful alliances across the globe and forces that turn old friends into new foes.”
The new movie will feature the likes of Donnie Yen, Laurence Fishburne, Rina Sawayama, Bill Skarsgård, Hiroyuki Sanada and many others. Reeves first played the role of John Wick in 2014, but almost 10 years on he still isn’t tired of playing the titular hero.
Speaking to the Metro at the premiere for John Wick: Chapter 4, Reeves said: “I try really hard, but with John, you have to try just a little bit harder.”
Explaining what’s brought him back to the character time and time again, he added: “I like his humour, I like his will, I like his grief and it’s really fun to play him in these films, these films are fun.”
Tragedy has never been too far removed from the life of Keanu Reeves. Back in 2006, he told Parade, “Much of my appreciation of life has come through loss. Life is precious. It’s worthwhile.”
The first reactions to the film are in following the premiere, with the action epic being labelled “brawny, bold and bass” and “one of the greatest action movies ever made.”
The movie is the longest in the John Wick franchise, with a runtime of 2 hours and 49 minutes, but it sounds like it may warrant this.
John Wick: Chapter 4 is released in cinemas on 23 March.
