Every animal is lovely and ought to live. Some animals are special and need special treatment. Their limitations, however, shouldn’t be used as justification for killing them. But there are lots of compassionate people fighting to make sure that every animal has a chance at life.
Like this dog, who was about to be put to death because she had lost her paws as a result of abuse, but was instead spared and given a gift that allowed her to regain her footing. A dog named Monika was found in the Russian hamlet of Plastunovskaya in December. The dog had been through so much that her paws had to be amputated because they were severely injured.
Rescue volunteers Marina Gapich and Alla Leonkina took in the unlucky puppy, but were heartbroken when experts told them that the canine needed to be put down. However, they were opposed, so they looked for another choice. Marina claimed that they looked after the dog and were her caregivers.
A veterinarian with expertise in prosthetics named Sergei Gorshkov was located. To help Monika get new legs, the rescuers raised about 400,000 Russian rubles, or about $5400.
The veterinarian agreed to the task even though he had never before created prosthetic paws for a dog. The titanium paws were created at Tomsk Polytechnic University and biocoated.
Monika’s new paws were surgically implanted once they were manufactured. At first, nobody had faith in the dog’s capacity to acclimate to her new prosthetic.
Monika, however, stunned everyone by quickly acclimating to her new paws. They were initially pessimistic, according to Sergei, but on the third day she started getting up and walking around the facility, going from room to room.
Being able to save an animal’s life made the veterinarian delighted. It’s incredible what can happen when individuals keep trying to save animals. The dog was in danger of being put down when the veterinarian and rescue volunteers intervened, saving his life.
