She had to undergo an ᴇᴍᴇʀɢᴇɴᴄʏ ᴄᴀᴇsᴀʀᴇᴀɴ sᴇᴄᴛɪᴏɴ and one of her twins ᴅɪᴇᴅ in childbirth. We tell you how this strange ɢʀɪᴇᴠɪɴɢ process happened.
A UK mom gave birth to her twin girls at 29 weeks pregnant by ᴇᴍᴇʀɢᴇɴᴄʏ ᴄᴀᴇsᴀʀᴇᴀɴ sᴇᴄᴛɪᴏɴ after one of them tore her ᴜᴍʙɪʟɪᴄᴀʟ ᴄᴏʀᴅ. Unfortunately, only one of the little ones survived. The other baby did not make it, despite the efforts made by the medical team to try to resuscitate her.
In order to help in the ɢʀɪᴇᴠɪɴɢ process, the hospital allowed this family to live with the baby for 15 days, thanks to a cooling cot that allowed them to bathe her, walk her, and even introduce her to her other siblings before she was cremated.
The mother of these babies believes that her daughter ᴅɪᴇᴅ to save her sister and does not think about leaving her out of their lives; they even plan to buy her a present for Christmas.
“From the moment my daughter was born, I fell in love with her; she looked so perfect. Spending those fifteen days with her and her sister was so wonderful.”
“We want to show people that it is possible to spend time with your baby after they die and that you can keep memories of them. This shouldn’t be taboo. Her face was so perfect. I didn’t want to leave her alone.”
“Even though she died, she is my daughter, and I wanted to spend as much time as I could with her,” the mother commented.
The woman was going through a high-ʀɪsᴋ pregnancy due to a ᴍᴀʟꜰᴏʀᴍᴀᴛɪᴏɴ in her ᴜᴛᴇʀᴜs that increased the ʀɪsᴋ of her babies being born prematurely. At 29 weeks pregnant, while at home, she went into ʟᴀʙᴏʀ. So, she was immediately taken to the hospital for an ᴇᴍᴇʀɢᴇɴᴄʏ C-sᴇᴄᴛɪᴏɴ.
There, they were able to safely remove one of the girls, while the other baby, unfortunately, was sᴛɪʟʟʙᴏʀɴ, although the doctors did everything in their power to resuscitate her.
“It was ᴛᴇʀʀɪʙʟᴇ when they told me that she was gone; it felt like it wasn’t real, like I was in a nightmare. It is the strangest feeling. You have all the joy of a newborn baby, but also the devastation of the ʟᴏss of your other child. I was sʜᴏᴄᴋᴇᴅ for a long time.”
After the sad news, the couple was moved to another hospital room where a cooling cot was located. There they placed the girl who had ᴅɪᴇᴅ and allowed them to visit her every day for two weeks so they could spend time with her inside the hospital. They even took her to be with her sister in the incubator, and they also let her share moments with her older brothers, who are 2, 4, and 5 years old.
After these two weeks, the couple chose a cute dress for their baby for the cremation ceremony. Then she was bathed and dressed for the last time. “I washed her skin and her hair. It was like bathing any of my other children. We took some pictures of the girls together, and then the undertaker came to take her away.”
After all this, the couple decided to keep their baby’s ashes in their room, and they comment that she is constantly in their thoughts.
The mother believes that her daughter ᴅɪᴇᴅ trying to save her sister when her ᴜᴍʙɪʟɪᴄᴀʟ ᴄᴏʀᴅ was ᴄᴜᴛ, ᴛʀɪɢɢᴇʀɪɴɢ ʟᴀʙᴏʀ. If this had not happened, the doctor would not have noticed the problem, and her other daughter would also have ᴅɪᴇᴅ.
“Not a day goes by that I don’t think about her. We include her in everything we do because we want to keep her memory alive. We will continue to include her in everything.”
