Croatian international midfielder Luka Modrić (37) is nearing a departure from Real Madrid, according to an exclusive report from Foot Mercato.
The 2018 Ballon d’Or winner is out of contract next June and the outlet adds that Modrić is likelier to leave the Spanish capital than extend his stay with La Casa Blanca.
Modric is still performing at the highest level with Real Madrid, and has played 34 games in all competitions with the Carlo Ancelotti-led side this season, scoring five goals and registering six assists.
Modrić’s likeliest destination would be the Saudi outfit Al-Nassr, where he would reunite with former Real Madrid teammate Cristiano Ronaldo.
Modrić’s advisor is said to have good relations with the team, as well as with its sporting director, Goran Vucević.
Real Madrid won’t stand in the way of one of their most decorated players ever, who has won five Champions League titles since his arrival from Tottenham in 2012.
However, the Spanish side may still offer a one-year contract extension to Modrić, if they believe the 37-year-old can maintain his performance levels.
