In a recent Reddit AMA, actor Keanu Reeves went on record to note that he’s always wanted to play one particular Marvel superhero.
Reeves is an extremely well-known actor, most recently due to his John Wick films. However, despite that popularity, he’s never been in a Marvel project.
Back in 2020, the actor’s name actually came up in relation to Moon Knight—a role that ultimately went to Oscar Isaac.
In the past, Reeves shared how he “had previously spoken” to Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige about taking on an MCU role—he even “flirted with the Yon-Rogg role” back when the studio was working on 2019’s Captain Marvel.
Technically speaking, Reeves has played a big superhero before: Batman. Though, it was only a small voice role in the animated League of Super-Pets film.
As fun as that animated outing was, it’s clear the star still has high ambitions.
Keanu Reeves Aims for Wolverine
John Wick 4 star Keanu Reeves participated in a Reddit AMA, where he name-dropped a Marvel character he’d love to embody one day.
When asked if there were any roles he regretted turning down, the action star quickly noted how there weren’t but that “[he] did always want to play Wolverine.”
This isn’t the first time the actor voiced a desire to bring the character to life. Back in 2020, while speaking with SiriusXM, Reeves reiterated his love for the Marvel hero:
“I always wanted to play Wolverine… Frank Miller’s Wolverine, for sure.”
The Coveted Role of Wolverine
One day, the X-Men will arrive in the MCU, and with them will be Wolverine. But, sadly, that time seems to be in the far future.
But does Keanu Reeves even have a chance at the role? Sadly, he’s probably too old for the part—particularly when it comes to Marvel Studios’ fresh take on the character.
Perhaps, with the Multiverse in play, Old Man Logan could show up. Though, if that role makes its way into existence, it would almost certainly go to Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine.
Speaking of Jackman’s mutant, fans will be able to see him at least one more time, thanks to Deadpool 3. After that, however, it might be time to pass the torch on to a different actor.
Another solid Marvel hero for Reeves to play would be Johnny Blaze’s Ghost Rider. While there aren’t many signs of the character popping up anytime soon, it’s almost certainly going to happen at some point.
Marvel Studio’s latest film, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, is now playing in theaters worldwide.
