Bennett Kaspar-Williams, 37, of Los Angeles started his transition three years after discovering that he was trans. About ten years ago, in 2011, he became aware of his gender identity.

Six years later, in 2017, he met Mᴀʟɪk, whom he would subsequently wed in 2018.

Bennett would need to quit the testosterone hormone therapy he had been getting for several years in order for his ovaries to work, so the pair carefully weighed their choices.

Soon after they began trying, he became naturally Pʀᴇɢɴᴀɴᴛ, and the couple welcomed their son, Hudson, by C-section in October 2020.

However, Bennett had second thoughts about starting a family.

I’ve always known that my body can get Pʀᴇɢɴᴀɴᴛ, but I’ve never wanted to until I discovered how to separate the way my body functions from any gender preconceptions.

Even if someone was born with a uterus, it doesn’t guarantee that they will always be able to conceive or give birth to children; no one will ever truly know unless they try.

We must avoid defining “wOᴍᴀɴhood” in terms of “motherhood,” as it is erroneous to assume that all women may become moms, all mothers carry their children, or all people who have children are mothers.

In March 2020, Bennett learned that he was expecting. Other than ceasing to take hormones to start the pregnancy, which occurred naturally, he didn’t use any ᴍᴇᴅɪᴄɪɴᴇ.

In October 2020, he underwent a cesarean delivery, giving birth to a handsome B named Hudson. Bennett asserts that hospital staff routinely mistake his gender despite his beard and flat chest.

The misgendering I experienced while obtaining prenatal care was the only instance of dysphoria I had throughout my pregnancy.

It was challenging to avoid being misgendered because gender and pregnancy are so ᴄʟᴏsᴇly related. Because the entire American system of maternity care is devoted to marketing this idea of “motherhood,” I say “business.”

It is the most natural and normal thing in the world for me to be a Dada and a Papa to my son. When he is old enough, he will also learn that when his dada carried him into the world, she showed him love and care.
