Amid Real Madrid’s interest, Erling Haaland has told Manchester City he wants them to adjust the game if the big English team wants him to stay.
The Norwegian superstar joined Man City from Borussia Dortmund in a big transfer last summer. He has continued his prolific scoring form with 33 goals in 33 appearances so far this season.
While the young forward is in brilliant form, many fans believe that Haaland is happy at Man City and can score more goals. However, according to Nacional (via Football365), Haaland feels “cheated” at the Etihad Stadium.
Haaland often goes many minutes without touching the ball in a game where Manchester City have impressive possession and this has annoyed the striker.
In fact, Nacional revealed that the former Borussia Dortmund striker was “too depressed for 90 minutes”. Haaland is not happy at the Etihad and hopes the club will change their game to suit him better.
Erling Haaland also threatened to leave the club if they were unable to feature in the next season of the Champions League, which would make Real Madrid interested in his presence in Spain.
Cityzens will most likely end the season in a position where they can enter the continental tournament. However, it is not clear how the charges they are facing for breaching financial rules could affect Real Madrid’s position in the league. Should Haaland make the decision to leave the club, Real Madrid are said to be on their way to catching up with him.
Meanwhile, Arsenal legend Thierry Henry sees the presence of Erling Haaland in Guardiola’s squad as making the team more predictable. Speaking to CBS Sports, Henry said: “We’ve seen in the big games, they can’t find Haaland. Everyone knows, when you play against a big team, you have to win the game first. But it’s not so easy.
We also see that this year Man City have had a much harder time in the Premier League, because the arrival of Erling makes it harder for Pep to execute tactics. Sometimes there are situations where the ball can’t always find Haaland’s feet.”
Other experts, including Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher, also shared that the striker had “chosen the wrong club” saying: “Erling Haaland is very disappointed, and I felt this even when he scored. many goals at the beginning of this season. Obviously Erling is still at the top of the scoring charts, but I think we’re only seeing 60% of Erling Haaland’s capacity.
What do you think of the goal he scored against West Ham on the first day of the season, when there was space in the back and he made a run there. I know that doesn’t happen often because of the way City play.
But Erling is from the Bundesliga, it’s a counter-attack tournament, and the game goes from start to finish. And then, you see Erling’s dizzying speed. At Man City, he doesn’t show you that. Erling may have really picked the wrong club, to really get the best out of him.”
