Thierry Henry’s strong ties to Arsenal were on display during his punditry work for CBS Sports.
Arsenal legend Thierry Henry jokingly threatened to walk out of the CBS Sports studio when asked if he would ever have played for Tottenham. The Gunners legend, who is the club’s record goalscorer having struck 228 times under Arsene Wenger, still has a strong affiliation to his former club 11 years on from his last appearance.
Henry is often at the centre of the Champions League camaraderie on CBS Sports and he took offence when Kate Abdo popped the most insulting of questions.
Abdo said: “Could you ever have played for Spurs?”
To which Henry replied in disgust: “Please, Spurs? I’m leaving. No, no, no. Joking aside, I wasn’t actually joking on that one.
“No – I had the opportunity and I declined.”

Jamie Carragher then said: “Spurs came in for you?” Abdo then added: “For triple the money?”
Henry’s response was coy: “Exactly for what you said and I said ‘no’.”
Carragher was desperate for answers, responding: “Who came in for you, Manchester United? It’s got to be a rival of Arsenal.
Henry then concluded: “No, I won’t say. You can say whatever you say, I will say no all the way.”
It’s not the first time Henry has had a dig at Tottenham during his punditry work in recent years.
When working for Amazon Prime Video’s French football coverage, he brutally mocked Spurs after Rennes’ 2-0 Ligue 1 defeat to Reims.
A fellow pundit had questioned whether Rennes’ three straight defeats could prove damaging ahead of the Europa Conference League clash with Tottenham.
Henry was cheeky with his response, saying: “Sorry, who? I don’t know them.”

The Frenchman loved playing against Tottenham during his playing career and never lost to Spurs in 11 north London derbies.
The Arsenal icon won seven of those and drew the other four, netting five goals along the way.
There is a statue that sits outside the Emirates Stadium of his iconic knee slide following his sublime solo goal in the 3-0 win over Tottenham in November 2002.
Tottenham are also responsible for one of the best moments of Henry’s career when Arsenal won the Premier League title at White Hart Lane in 2004.
Watts reports that Partey working to be ready for Arsenal’s game against Leicester
Arsenal-affiliated journalist Charles Watts has just dropped one of the best pieces of news any Gooner would appreciate ahead of this weekend’s game with Leicester.
Arsenal had to come from behind to defeat Aston Villa 4-2, a scenario Mikel Arteta would prefer not to see against Leicester. Fortunately, Watts has divulged that Thomas Partey may be available for Arsenal’s trip to the King Power Stadium.
I don’t think I need to tell you how good an Arsenal with Partey available is; Arsenal with the Ghanaian star are on another level. “From what I understand, he’s very much working towards trying to be fit for the weekend,” said Watts on his YouTube channel.“But it’s something that’s going to be a much later decision, I think, when it comes to whether Thomas Partey will be fit to face Leicester.
“Arsenal continuing to assess him. Like I said, he’s working hard. He’s aiming to try and be fit for this Leicester game. He doesn’t want to be out long, understandably so – but Arsenal aren’t going to take any risks.”
Anyway, even if Partey does not make the Arsenal squad for the Leicester game, Jorginho can continue filling in as Arsenal’s number 6. Jorginho had a fantastic game against Villa, and if he can build on his performance last weekend.
Arteta may not need to hurry Partey back to fitness. In any case, Zinchenko’s style of play, which sees him drift through the middle, is also helping Arsenal’s midfield become more efficient.
Should Arteta stick with Jorginho until Partey is fully fit?
