After killing a large water buffalo, and being suspected of attacking a missing fisherman last month, Bunawan hunters in the Philippines tracked and captured a 2,375 pound, 21-foot crocodile believed to be responsible.
The reptile destroyed four traps before villagers replaced them with larger models connected to steel cables.
After it was caught, 100 people were required to haul the animal from the water to a clearing where a crane lifted it into an awaiting truck.
“We were nervous but it’s our duty to deal with a threat to the villagers,” Mayor Edwin Cox Elo rde told The Associated Press by phone.
“When I finally stood before it, I couldn’t believe my eyes.” The crocodile will be the center attraction in a new ecotourism park.
