When Liverpool lost to Brentford last month, Virgil van Dijk left the game injured and hasn’t returned since.

Virgil van Dijk has provided Liverpool supporters with an update as he continues his return from injury.
The Dutchman has been sidelined since he picked up a hamstring during his side’s 3-1 defeat at the hands of Brentford last month. At the time, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp claimed his defender was facing ‘more than a month’ out.
Klopp substituted Van Dijk at half-time during the game. And although the Reds boss said post-match that the centre-back’s issue was ‘not an injury, he just felt the intensity’ – it later emerged that the injury was worse than first feared.
The defender was described as ‘getting closer’ late last week and taking to Instagram on Wednesday afternoon, Van Dijk posted a picture of himself, which included stats from a fitness session.

Providing a injury full update ahead of his side’s 3-0 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers at the weekend, Kop boss Klopp revealed he was hoping to introduce the defender back into parts of training this week.
He said: “Virgil is getting closer, but not ready for the [Wolves] game obviously. Parts of training, I think, next week as well for Virgil.”
