Chinese social networks are buzzing about the story of a 65-year-old janitor who has just finished 4th grade and has just become a lecturer at a college.
“I never dared to dream it, now I’m a lecturer,” said 65-year-old Liu Zhenhua. This woman is currently a lecturer in Labor Education at Hunan Vocational College, China.
Ms. Liu was originally a farmer in Xiangtan town, Hunan province and only attended grade 4.
Ten years ago, when Hunan Vocational College opened a branch in town, she was transferred to the opposite resettlement area. Since then, she has had a fairly stable income from taking advantage of the front of the house to do business and rent out rooms. However, because she was used to manual labor and did not like leisure, she applied for a job as a janitor for the college.
During her 10 years of work, the biggest impression that Ms. Liu left on teachers and students in the school was enthusiasm and seriousness. Every time she met teachers and students, she always smiled happily and actively greeted. People affectionately call her “cleaning aunt”.
Ms. Liu’s responsibility is to clean the front of the school, but she always sweeps the hallways. She is considered an excellent individual and is always honored on the school’s bulletin board. Since then, Ms. Liu’s labor achievements have been noticed and recognized by the school’s leaders.
At the beginning of November last year, at the opening ceremony held at the Happy Farm of Hunan Vocational College, Ms. Liu Zhenhua was awarded a letter of appointment as a lecturer.
The assistant principal shared that he proposed to hire Ms. Liu as a lecturer for the school a few years ago, and recently this proposal was approved: “We hired Aunt Liu because besides the fact that she was used to the job, farming, and another important reason is that she is very enthusiastic and serious, and is loved by many people.”
After being hired as a lecturer, Ms. Liu became a star in the school and the locality. “The security guards said that I was very popular online,” said Ms. Liu with a smile.
The effect Ms. Liu has as a lecturer is surprisingly good. Immediately after receiving the appointment decision, Ms. Liu came to the Farm happily to work and immediately brought into full play the strengths of a skilled farmer, guiding students to dig the ground and plant trees. Ms. Liu’s appearance inspired more than 200 first-year students here.
“Aunt Liu is very dedicated, has rich knowledge of agricultural production and is very humble. Auntie is the best instructor for our Labor Education class”, praised the assistant principal of the school.
For her part, Ms. Liu could not hide her excitement about her current job: “ I am very happy to see the children learn to grow vegetables and form good work habits. I will continue to work hard and contribute to my role in the future.”
