Marvel Studios producer Richie Palmer teases what Scarlet Witch’s future is after the events of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Marvel producer teases what lies ahead in the MCU for the Scarlet Witch. The MCU is in the middle of rebuilding the universe after the culmination of the Infinity Saga in Avengers: Endgame. With that, Kevin Feige and his team are already laying the groundwork for its next big storyline, and based on how things are shaping right now in the franchise, chances are that it has something to do with the multiverse.
Elizabeth Olsen joined the MCU in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Despite that, she functioned mostly as a supporting character as the focus was on the original Avengers. This disappointed some given Wanda Maximoff’s capabilities in Marvel Comics. After the Infinity Saga, however, it’s clear that as the Scarlet Witch, she will play a big role in the franchise moving forward. That was until her seeming death at the end of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. For those who are still wondering whether or not Wanda survived the events of the Sam Raimi-directed flick, Marvel producer Richie Palmer is glad to hint that the MCU will see more of Scarlet Witch moving forward.
While doing the audio commentary for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Palmer talks about what the future of the MCU may look like. He re-affirms Feige’s previous comment about Doctor Strange being the anchor of Phase 4, but more interestingly, he adds that Wanda will be its “jewel in the crown.” Read his full quote below:
“If Doctor Strange is the anchor of the MCU of Phase 4, then Wanda Maximoff is the jewel in the crown.”
Not that there were many doubts that Wanda survived Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, but it’s great to hear Palmer pretty much confirm she’s still alive. Following her villainous turn in her recent MCU outing, chances are that Wanda is still due for her redemption arc. While she went off ruthlessly killing the Illuminati, the fact that they’re from Earth-838 makes it more plausible for her to be forgiven and eventually taken back in by the next batch of the Avengers. In any case, considering how powerful Scarlet Witch is, she would be such an important asset for Earth’s Mightiest Heroes by the time they need to re-assemble.
Doctor Strange being the MCU’s Phase 4 anchor makes sense. As the multiverse expands and the mystical pocket of the franchise gets further explored, it’s likely that he will be at the center of its storytelling. But, it sounds like, despite this, Marvel Studios’ future storytelling will primarily be about Scarlet Witch. That should make fans of the character happy, especially after years of sidelining her despite her clear power abilities.
