Man Utd defeated Reading in the FA Cup on Saturday night and there was an injury scare for Christian Eriksen.
Eriksen was substituted
Erik ten Hag has confirmed that Christian Eriksen suffered an ankle injury in Man Utd’s FA Cup fourth round win over Reading.
United booked their place in the next round of the competition with a 3-1 win over the Championship side on Saturday night, as a brace from Casemiro and a goal from Fred sealed the victory.
It was another encouraging night for United as they look to finally end their trophy drought as it enters its sixth year, but there was one negative with Eriksen’s injury.
The 30-year-old was replaced by Fred shortly after United had taken the lead, having picked up a knock following a robust tackle from Reading forward Andy Carroll.
Eriksen has been a key player for United in his debut season, and after the match, Ten Hag was asked for an injury update on the former Tottenham man.
“It is always difficult to say so short after the game finished,” he said. “But it is an ankle injury, and we have to see what is the diagnosis.”
Eriksen has played a part in all but one of United’s matches this season, only missing the goalless draw with Newcastle back in October.
United are next in action when they host Nottingham Forest in the second leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final tie on Wednesday night.
