Anne Hathaway one of many excited people anticipating the upcoming third installment of THE PRINCESS DIARIES!
While the actress has not officially signed on to the project, she has expressed how excited she is to hear that it’s finally happening.
Hathaway shared that it was “thrilling” to see how happy fans are about another PRINCESS DIARIES movie. She also mentioned that she understands how fans feel about having to wait for another movie for almost two decades.
“We feel the exact same, and I know it’s probably very frustrating,” Hathaway said. “It’s a process that requires patience, and so everybody should consider themselves a part of the movie business now, because this is how long it actually takes to make things.”
Movieguide® previously reported on the upcoming PRINCESS DIARIES movie:
A new PRINCESS DIARIES movie is in the works at Disney!
The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Aadrita Mukerji is working on a script for another installment in the series. Mukerji has previously written for TV shows like REACHER and SUPERGIRL. The article also clarified that this would be a continuation of the original series, and not a reboot.
Anne Hathaway starred in THE PRINCESS DIARIES and THE PRINCESS DIARIES 2: ROYAL ENGAGEMENT alongside Julie Andrews.
Hathaway has expressed excitement at the idea of another PRINCESS DIARIES movie in the past, but there’s no official word yet on whether she or Andrews will return for the upcoming project.
Both PRINCESS DIARIES movies received very favorable reviews, from audiences and critics alike.
Movieguide® also reported that, while it’s still unknown if Hathaway will appear in the movie, one star has already given their answer:
Fans of THE PRINCESS DIARIES were excited to hear that another installment of the Disney classic is in the works, but new comments from star Julie Andrews have dashed the hopes of the acctress reprising her role as Queen Clarisse.
Andrews played Queen of Genovia, Clarisse Renaldi, and grandmother to Anne Hathaway’s Princess Mia Thermopolis in both PRINCESS DIARIES movies.
Many fans were crossing their fingers for an appearance from both actresses in the new installment, but Andrews recently revealed she won’t be taking part in the project.
“I think we know that it’s probably not going to be possible,” the actress said. “It was talked about very shortly after [THE PRINCESS DIARIES 2: ROYAL ENGAGEMENT] came out, but it’s now how many years since then? And I am that much older and Annie the princess, or queen, is so much older. And I am not sure where it would float or run. In terms of us doing it, I doubt that now.”
It’s also unknown if Hathaway will be returning for the third installment. The Hollywood Reporter stated that the next movie will be a continuation of the series and not a reboot, but the original movies’ star has not yet confirmed if she’ll be in the project.
