Man Utd manager Erik ten Hag has held secret talks with Marco Reus’ agent
Reus’s representatives were spotted at Saturday’s game with the Borussia Dortmund star weighing up his future.
The forward is out of contract in the summer and has confirmed he is considering his options ahead of a possible free transfer departure in the summer.
Erik ten Hag wants to continue to add to his side as he tries to turn United’s fortunes around
Man Utd are thought to be one of the clubs chasing his signature, with ten Hag seemingly keen to bring the German star on board his Old Trafford revolution.
Ten Hag held a meeting with Dirk Hebel and Darren Freeman following the game, though it is unclear if the talks were positive.
While the 33-year-old wouldn’t cost United a penny in terms of a transfer fee, it is thought his current wage is over £200,000 per week.

Freeman later shared a post on Instagram which showed the duo in attendance at Saturday’s game in Manchester
But ten Hag will again look to overhaul his playing squad in the summer as he continues to turn the club’s fortunes around, having seemingly turned them into Premier League title contenders this season.
Marcus Rashford has been a revolution out wide for the Dutchman’s side, but big-money summer signing Antony has struggled to settle on the right, with Jadon Sancho dealing with personal issues and youngsters such as Alejandro Garnacho and Anthony Elanga needing time to settle.
Reus would fit the mould of a player ready to perform in the present as the Red Devils aim to compete on all fronts, and can operate in a number of forward positions as an additional benefit.
Reus has played for Borussia Dortmund for 11 years but will be a free agent in the summer
Reus, who has been a Dortmund player for 11 years, said on his future: ‘That’s what I have an agent for – to take care of these things.’
‘Of course you look ahead. I still have half a year left on my contract, I have to think about it. We will have talks and see in which direction it goes. We’ll see what the future brings.’
Reus has had his fair share of injury issues in the past, but has scored 148 goals for Dortmund in 354 appearances.
He has been linked with several clubs over the years, including Liverpool, Manchester City and United in the Premier League.
Marcus Rashford has been in fine form this season and scored the winner in the derby
The 33-year-old has also been linked with Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr in recent times
He was most recently linked with a move to Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr, with Hebel telling Bild: ‘It is quite normal that other clubs are interested in a player like Marco, whose contract expires in six months.
‘Marco has always emphasized how much BVB is close to his heart, but also that he wants to continue playing football. So it’s only natural that we have to look at other options.’
The possibility of him staying at Dortmund has not been ruled out.
But Reus won’t be short of offers and is free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with another club this window, with United seemingly moving ahead in the race after the weekend’s events.
